Maike holds a Masters Degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Valdosta State University and a Bachelors Degree in Child & Family Development from The University of Georgia. She is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Georgia Board Certified.

Maike has worked in a multitude of settings including Child and Adolescent Community Mental Health, Intensive In-Home Therapy and in Private Practice. She has enjoyed enhancing her work with children, adolescents, adults, families and couples by assisting everyone involved to work collaboratively to achieve their full potential. Maike focuses on issues such as  parent- child conflicts, self-esteem, ADHD, communication, stress management, anxiety, depression, trust issues, relationship enrichment and many more. She is Certified in the Prepare/Enrich Program which is used to strengthen and enhance marriages as well as prepare for marriage; this program utilizes a comprehensive assessment which the couple will complete along with skill building exercises during therapy.

Maike is of the belief that every person has the ability to experience happiness, balance and intimacy in their life. She believes we all hold the key to live the fulfilling life we all yearn for. Maike works together with clients to identify changes they want to make to their lives and to learn effective ways to make these changes happen. She believes that a healthy relationship with oneself and others is the most powerful healing source. It is her goal to help you feel good about yourself by helping you to look within to find balance and harmony.

Dr. Peed has earned a PhD in Psychology from Capella University, a Master of Arts degree in Community Counseling from St. Mary’s University, a Master of Arts degree in Human Communication from Abilene Christian University, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from McMurry University. 

For the past 10 years, Dr. Peed has specialized in adolescent and family counseling, including marriage relationships and parenting.  Her degree in communication facilitates the positive progression of all types of personal and professional relationships.  As a certified professional coach, she can assist in life/career transitioning and coaching professionals.  Dr. Peed is also a published researcher in the area of trauma recovery and resilience, assisting those who have experienced physical or emotional trauma to gain full recovery. 

As a proponent of Positive Psychology, Dr. Peed focuses on helping each client find a positive force to build on to find peace and happiness. She uses brief therapy, solution-focused therapy and cognitive behavior therapy. Throughout her experience as a school counselor, she has been a successful play therapist and has also helped adolescents and parents re-establish healthy relationships throughout the troublesome teen years. Positive parenting and parenting through divorce are her specialties.

Allen Young, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor

Allen holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology/Christianity from Mercer University. He has been licensed as a counselor in Georgia since 1996.

Since his senior year in College, Allen has worked in many areas of the mental health field including: inpatient, community and correctional, managed care and private practice. Aside from his behavioral health work, he has also held jobs in construction and in the poultry industry, giving him work experience beyond that of the mental health industry.

Apart from his work history, Allen has a wealth of life experience, including marriage and fatherhood. Both of these allow him to better understand his clients and to help them find the direction they want for their lives. His approach is collaborative and focused on helping clients use their strengths to create positive movement in their lives.

Pathways Transition Programs
Gwinnett Satellite Office

Pathways Transition Programs is a community mental health provider offering Medicaid funded services to children and adolescents.  Services include individual, family and group counseling, behavioral aide supports, psychological testing and medication management.  Medicaid services may be provided in the home or in office settings.
